The way I see it, there are 8 roles in the game. PvE tank, ranged dps, melee dps and healer, and PvP ranged dps, melee dps, healer and flag carrier. Of those 8, PvP healing was the most horrible, frustrating, thankless job in the game, and something I certainly don't miss. So much as casting 1 heal paints a giant bullseye on your forehead for the rest of the match along with being the proud recipient of every single stun, interrupt and fear that every class has in their arsenal.

I have no idea of what the state of pvp is now, but I'd imagine nothing much has changed.

To answer Sara's question, I only did it for the PvP achievements, as I was a huge achievement whore.

Ouch, that looked painful.

Cute, quirkly little piece Clef. :)

I thought Kleeyo said she couldn't heal as she's specked for elemental? (http://sarakleeyo.webcomic.ws/comics/16). Mind you, I've been out of WoW for so long that I've forgotten how half of it works.

Hmm, yes. I used to be a Holy Paladin once...

I've to disagree. I used to go in battleground with my chamheal and I quite enjoyed it. I died, that's right, and in Arathi, it was buses traveling from place to place, but I enjoyed it. (Please, note that I too used to be an achievement huntress, so I did bg with my main - huntress -, but I was best as healer in pvp).
Plus, if I may say... in PVE, you can expect not to get killed as everything is more or less already schedule (except for some boss whose adds appear in random place - CF Malchezzar and the infernal), but in PVP, it's almost a free for all, so you have to expect your death when you go there. (Once again, this is only my opinion).
One question: you mention flag carrier, I can't say how it goes in US/UK/english speaking server, but on mine, it was mostly druids who took the flag to run to the fort or base at top speed before the other faction killed him.

You see a lot of druids do that in regular BGs, but in the 1600+ rated BGs I was in the dedicated flag carriers were usually warriors or druids with stacked stam and resilience and specced into every CC breaker and damage mitigation talent at the cost of personal dps and everything else (PvE tanks even need to do enough dps to generate threat), so they were meant to take full the brunt of a force's onslaught and last long enough for the healers to heal through it. Very rarely did we have our flag carrier peel off and run the flag home alone. They would almost always have heal and dps support.

In mid to high rated BGs a lone flag carrier was usually a dead flag carrier.

Being a BG healer in WotLK era, I lol'd hard at this. I was pwned so many times, in so many different occasions... I remember one time in Wintergrasp, when group I was with engaged another group of pretty much equal size. Long story short, a rogue kept me stun-locked and eventually killed me. Needless to say, nobody came to my help. I decided not to release right away and watched how the fight went. My group was killed soon after. Next thing couple of whispers came: "OMFG!!! WTF!!! WHERE WERE THE HEALZ YOU IDIOT?!!!11"

I retired from PVP because it got frustrating, how ever i did do one a few days ago and found out its still frustrating...

But on a brighter note thanks for the tips about shadeing I'm really enjoying the effect they've had on my panels. and I'm getting better at it!

take a look.

If I remember right there are addons that mark healers. That seems pretty cheat-y.

Buahhahahaha , so true.
Especially as priest its kinda bad, druids usually can escape SOME slows or just be a flag carrier.
As a main mage tho - i can say nothing gives more satisfaction as locking out the healing tree with a well timed counter spell ...
And nothing gets as much frustration as to see a quick heal that intervenes with a nearly perfect chain of crits that "nearly" killed your target ...
Linakiller 5th Mar 2013, 1:19 AM edit delete reply
I think this can pretty much point out that the healers are the most known to die,and even if you cast ONE healing spell on a person, they will just ignore the person and come at you instead.

Healing in BG's is a pretty thankless job, much like it usually is elsewhere. Maybe a bit less so. Sure, you are going to die, but you went into your BG/RBG/Arena knowing that was likely to happen, unlike running a LFR, heroic, or soloing or whatever, where you expect success. Knowing that despite that, you can still really turn the tide of the fight and that dying isn't that big of a deal really makes the difference. It does suck when you get targeted by a group because they realize they need to take you out and you go from full health to dead in a couple of seconds though.
