Things aren't looking to good for Kleeyo o.o I wonder what this sick gnome has in plan for her daughter. Awesome job though!

Wow, just, wow. The emotion and detail. Only thing I noticed was panel 1 you show the red ankle guards (which look a little over-sized btw) but you don't show the red going up the thigh above the purple like in panels 4,6, and 7. It just looked a little off. Referring to Tallia as a crotch critter though, priceless. Never thought of my kids that way (nor do I want to think that that's what we essentially all are either *shudder*). Keep up the good work!

Well, as I'm sure you've probably noticed from all my previous comics- consistency is not my strong point. I don't draw all the images at once, usually on separate pieces of paper at different times and without references, so I often forget small details going from one to the next. By the time I catch them, its usually too much a bother to fix them.

(I know....excuses, excuses...)

Just a little constructive criticism, or at least that was how it was meant to be taken. Hard to come across that way sometimes when typing I guess. Either way, it's still better than any of the sticks I draw lol. Carpal tunnel sucks and makes it impossible for a fellow artist to do diddly squat :(

And that's how I took it. I always welcome constructive criticism. I just already recognize I'm a heavily flawed artist :)

I do agree that typing is a difficult median to convey a message. I didn't mean my response to sound defensive, heh. I have and always will appreciate every comment you give.
Sesshy (Muradin) 1st Jan 2012, 5:21 PM edit delete reply
I'm glad it was taken that way. I still can't get over though how well you made Kleeyo seem so....squishy? Trying to grasp the best way to describe it. In the next to last panel you can really see how at mercy she is to the gnome. The image that keeps coming to mind is that of a mouse in a person's hand. It's so frail and...well...squishy lol. It just blows my mind. It totally makes up for the goof in panel 1 :)
Thisguy 1st Jan 2012, 2:04 AM edit delete reply
Well, its certainly not the first time Tallia has been referenced to coming from kleeyos crotch.
This gnome is really evil, glad he's not officially affiliated with the Alliance. Got to wonder though, exactly WHAT has Kleeyo done to deserve this, apart from usual bg gnome punting, which... i gather, is not uncommon.
Love the blood, gives a whole new lvl of seriousness, that changes us from the ligh hearted funnyness that has prevaled for the past few comics.
hope you keep making these comics & Best of luck in the new year, keep up the good work. :D

I did not like this gnome the first time I saw him. Now I detest him. He needs punting under a deep run tram. For Kleeyo!

Wouldn't the Deeprun Trams just glide straight over him?

(I know what you mean though) :)

Bloodraptor(Echo Isles) 1st Jan 2012, 9:07 AM edit delete reply
I loathe that gnome in such ways that the very word itself doesnt compare to my loathing! I want to eviscerate that gnome in such ways that would make the old gods worship me! I slaughter gnomes for free often, but it's worth the trouble to put a gnome in their rightful place, THE GRAVE! he better die in a way that would be considered mind-blowing agony and absolutely gorey!
adamantine 1st Jan 2012, 10:36 AM edit delete reply
I like that gnome. Not for what he's doing to Kleeyo, of course not >< ( though I wonder what has she done to deserve such death). No, I like him because he shows what Alliance truly is, even if he says he's not affiliated with them. I mean, if you look back, Alliance isn't that good. Draenei were evil Eredar, Human put the orcs into slavery and wants to kill them all even though they just want to live on peacefully (mostly) and when you look at it, are just racists, night elves dislike everything that's linked to magic and want Kalimdor only for themselves. Only dwarves and Gnomes are relatively correct (though the gnomes just blew up their homeland and Dwarves are in a kind of civil war because Magni couldn't admit his daughter loved his enemy...).
On the other hand, in the Horde, the orcs (Garrosh doesn't count, he only wants to prove he's better than Thrall.. and Varian does go on his nerve :p) want peace now, the taurens have nothing against other races but the centaurs, the trolls.. well, they are done with vaudoo and couldn't care less about the other races. Blood elves want to live and thrive. ok, there are just the Undead that are 'evil', but due to revenge. That's quite different.
That ranting being done at least, I would like to see what happen next. I'm sure Sara will intervene to save her friend. She can't let her go like that!
Clef 1st Jan 2012, 4:40 PM edit delete reply
Clef
Well, go play warcraft 1 & 2 for a bit of a history lesson on why humans hate the orcs so much. It's not entirely unjustified. It's probably because I grew up with those games that I'll always have an Alliance bias. Granted, neither side in particular acted like choir boys during those wars, but you have to look at it from the side of those who had their world invaded by bloodthirsty aliens who then want, even after being freed from demon corruption, to still conquest the land.
Guest 1st Jan 2012, 5:38 PM edit delete reply
Don't worry, I know the stories and I know that orcs destroyed human lands. But they're done with the corruption now. And on Kalimdor. Ok, there are orcs that want to destroy human, the Blackrocks for instance. But those on Orgrimmar? I'm not that sure. I've read that Cycle of Hatred book, well there are humans that like to pick up on orcs just to provock them. I'm not saying that all human are like that, take Jaina, she's fine with them. But Varian... And no, the fact that Garona was forced to kill his father isn't a good reason for it (in my opinion). She had no say in the matter, as I recall it. I play alliance, but really, my allegiance goes to Horde.
Clef 1st Jan 2012, 7:47 PM edit delete reply
Clef
Well, having his father murdered was only one of King Varian's reasons to want the horde destroyed. In addition his kingdom was destroyed , his self identity lost, and was captured and put into gladiator/slavery (Wow, this is sounding a bit like Thrall's life, heh).

I think these are the hands-down best articles written in defense of King Varian and his attitude towards the horde.

http://wow.joystiq.com/2009/04/26/varian-wrynn-is-right-part-ii/

As for Garrosh, one of my most despised lore characters (second only to Kael'thas). He had not been directly victimized by the alliance first hand. He lived in peace and safety tucked away in Garodar. His home world was destroyed by the Old Horde when they tried to flee to other dimensions, his father died after battle with a demon, yet for some reason, he hates the Alliance more then any other Horde lore character. I don't think he's trying to surpass Thrall as much as he's trying to live up to daddy, who was essentially a member of the Old Horde in terms of his actions and attitude.

Overall I think Blizzard has done an excellent job in creating two warring factions without making is clear "black & white" in terms of who is good and evil. Both sides have their heroes and villains. However looking at Azerothian history, some parts WERE black and white (the RTS games) and can never be erased, hence my Alliance allegiance.

If you'll pardon the play on words, this episode is quite "gripping" (ducks and avoids being stoned by everyone here). Poor Kleeyo, I cringed at the sight of her bloodstained face. I guess tauren must be pretty tough, because at first sight I thought she was already dead (paradox, wrong tauren, clone, alternative timeline, etc). Now I have to wait until next weekend to know what will happen to her. My guess is that the gnome is going to position Kleeyo somewhere that Talia will unknowingly harm her mother. Maybe bind and gag Kleeyo and put her deep in the toe of Talia's boot or something.

BTW Slightly off topic, but it's a quesiton I thought of during the week. What's the exact name for a tauren child? Is Talia "a calf?"

Wow... That's not the update I was expecting. Don't know why, but people punt gnomes in the wrong order. First you kill them, THEN you kick them. Add insult to injury (or death in that case).

I'm sure you can ask any horde member. Punting a corpse inst nearly as gratifying as punting something that tries to fight back.
Shadopaw 2nd Jan 2012, 2:02 AM edit delete reply
Any Horde member? Ask any Alliance member! One time, I and my fellow Worgen friend, who is our DK tank, needed to aggro a mob quickly, but his Deathgrip was on cooldown. What did we do? We took our Mage, a Gnome, and created a new Throwing weapon! The Gnome Football!

It's not just horde vs gnomes. On my first ever visit to Booty Bay some alliance player (I think it was a dwarf) punted me off the Maiden's Fancy straight into the brine while I was stainding on deck waiting for the trip back to Ratchet.

I guess with a character name like Daisybelle I was asking for it, but still... Hearing that deep throated laugh made me want to shimmy up the hull and pound him through the deckplanks.

Darn. I was almost (Ok, REALLY) hoping to see a bit... MORE of Kleeyo, if you know what I mean ;P Ok, sorry, sorry, but this page is much more violent and dramatic than all of the other pages so far. Really great! It's... I don't know how to describe what I think of her accepting death. And about that Gnome... People like him are the reason I am a DRUID. Chaotic Neutral all the way! Freakin SI:7 agents and mercenarys give the Alliance a bad name, no matter how effective they are. But Sara is gonna go BERSERK when she finds out what's going on backstage!

Forgot to mention this in my last comment, so here we go. I read a LOT of webcomics, and no matter what you think of your own art, this comic is STILL in my top favorites. Keep up the great work!
Thisguy 2nd Jan 2012, 2:53 AM edit delete reply
I still don't get why people have so much gnomehate, I like gnomes, the're funny and inventive. And even though i'm alliance (human mage) i dont hate the horde (I hate the people who attack me just because i'm alliance) but I dont hate the horde in general.
Even though I am human, I still think Varian is a bit of a douche for the way he acts towards the Horde. Both sides, and all races have their reasons for fighting. The night elves mainly fight because the horde is invading their forestd in Northen Kalimdor. Gnomes, Dwarfs and Dranie fight to support their Allies. And adamantine, the Alliance may not be saints, but neither are the horde, I have great respect for Thrall, all he has ever done is try to ensure the survival of his people, but Garrosh has this, "horde is superior" thing going. And given that orcs were once demonically possesed, you cannot call Draenei 'evil' just cause some of them became eradar. And you cannot say that all humans are warmonger when tbeir are people like Fordring out there. Sure some alliance have a bit of trouble letting go of the past, and many just dont belive that horde is "good now" (jainas father was one of these jerks). And undead and goblins dont have much respect for any race other than themselves. But all races fight for survival, and commit acts of good and evil in doing so.
So while I support the alliance, I also support peace between all races.
This gnome though, Represents the worst of his, and all races. I would be deeply ashamed to call him alliance, and if he was ever a part of it, would kick him out, as I would any who act like him.

This is not an arguement, this is just a discussion, just wanted to point out that not all alliance are jerks ( or not more than any other race, horde or alliance anyway :P)
Cheers :D

Personally, I think the gnome hate is the same concept as the wave of panda hate that MoP spawned. People have a defined idea of what "Warcraft" is and gnomes don't fit into it except as targets. I'm kinda hoping that MoP will draw fire off the gnomes, since the Pandaren are the center of the expansion and will thus a) get more "screen time" to win over detractors (thus sparing panda players the worst of what gnome players run in to) and b) be more likely to make the really rabid haters (who I'd bet overlap a lot with gnome haters) quit.

Darn, thats a really emotional page. One can nearly feel Kleeyos despair and Ulrics hate.

Damn good work! You managed it again to combine humour with dramatic seriousness as lately seen when Emowings tail smashed Sara while defending Tallia.

Keep it up!

Not for the mental scarring that would ensue from said viewing of corpse but the vengeance that Tallia would wreak upon that gnome would make even Kratos shudder in fear. And Kleeyo Knows It. (See#34)

For a moment there, i thought the gnome was going to punt her (although, something tells me that it may not be out of the question). I have to say, when reading this storyline, i felt that the gnome that brags about his title "THE UNPUNTABLE" is reaaalllyy tempting fate for a major retribution.
Also been meaning to say this for while (meant to say this during the anniversary comic, but been busy lately), but you should really stop putting your drawing skillz down. I think your drawings are awesome, and i know you can draw much better than I can (although, that isn't saying much). Plus, you're comics are usually funny, you update regularly, and you constantly interact with the readers. Anyways, i hope you do indeed continue to create more comics in the future, but if you can't, then thanks for the comics you already provided (though, you could make us read through your plot, then one day just say “comics over!” during mid-plot, but I know you wouldn’t be that….because it would be very evil…..please don’t…….please….) . But anyway, keep up the Good work!

Rest assured I would never (willingly) end the series abruptly. If anything, I would put up another hiatus comic (one without kitten shredding this time) or would update with black and white drawings if suddenly my free time became non-existent. There's already a concluding storyline worked out, but this story will probably last another 2 months, then a month of fillers, then the start of the conclusion.

And yes, punting Kleeyo is still very much at the top of Ulric's to-do list :)
