This, times it by about a hundred and that's my world PvP experience (asides from the vanilla southshore/terran mill raids....damn those were fun). This comic is also my final attempt to get a comic on Blizz's comics page. They've rejected everything I've sent to date. Normally I would understand since nearly all the comics they've posted were much higher quality than mine, however last time I visited I noticed they were posting comics that were simply unedited screenshots with chat bubbles thrown on. Maybe they finally lowered their standards enough...
Looking over some of MoP's new features, it mentioned something about account wide achievements? Already they've confirmed mounts and titles will be account-wide. This certainly makes me wonder if those will be like guild achievements (i.e. in a separate tab, with stuff like "leveled 4 characters to 85, gained grand master in 3 different professions, ect) or if it will be a merger of all existing character achievements into one big account-based achievement pool?
I'm not going to lie, when I was playing I was a big achievement whore, so something like this is a big deal to me. If it's the latter, then I think this is quite possible one of the greatest ideas blizz has made in a while.
One of my biggest frustrations was that I was stuck having to PvP with Sara to grind off PvP achievements (many of which are impossible to do as a healer), while I already had some of the more difficult PvP achievements completed on Kleeyo. With account-wide those would be merged, and I could continue grinding PvP achieves with my actual PvP toon and PvE with my raiding toon. In short, you can try for achievements based on which characters you have that would be best suited for the task. I LOVE that idea.
Think about it...achievement points would now reflect player experience rather then just character experience....if you have your "what a strange trip its been" achieve, you'd never have to worry about waiting a year if you missed a seasonal achieve on an alt. And best of all....I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO DO SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS ON AN ALT EVER AGAAAAAAAIN! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
This is actually getting me pretty excited...being able to kill off Garrosh PLUS account-wide achieves...stuff like this shoves me toward trying out MoP after all, with or without a social reason to come back...provided account wide achievements are what I think/hope they are. If anyone hears and updates/confirmations on this, PLEASE post it in the comments here :)
Exit question: What do you think about the idea of merging all your character achievements into one account pool?

Ha! I can just see, in the first panel, them just having casual conversation. "Nice weather, hmm?" "...Yup." As for the exit question, if it makes it easier for me to get a Proto-Drake mount, I'm all for it. :D
14th Apr 2012, 7:57 PM
been tryign since Wrath to get the red proto drake mount, now if only I can get the ones I couldnt complete during Wrath... then I'd be golden for the red proto. but it'll also mean all my dudes could get the 310% flight lesson, which would be super sweet!
Account-wide achievements and mounts sounds so good right now. another reaso nto keep me in WoW. now if only Blizz would gimp gnomes strength, agility, and stamina by 66% so they're more logically placed stat-wise.
gnomes suck at melee classes as it is, but Blizz needs to make it so gnomes cant solo anything. you know, because gnomes are vermin.
14th Apr 2012, 8:09 PM
Well, same could be said for blood elves :p. So darn skinny and scrawny. The forsaken are literally skin and bones and even THEY have more muscle mass than belfs.
14th Apr 2012, 7:58 PM
I forgot to mention, next time you're near someoen flagegd for PVP on your side, let him die so you can run away. dont mess with a Horde rogue and their PVP kills. it'll leave you with less repair bills. :p
15th Apr 2012, 12:07 AM
You'd figure I'd learn that after the first 50 times...but I always think "hey, 1 healer and 1 dps should be able to kick a ganker's ass". Any good PvPer knows to immediately focus on the healer first...I can always tank them long enough for someone else to burn them down, but instead but they flee at the first opportunity even when they have healer support >_>. In BC/Wotlk I could often fend off/kill attackers as holy if I was able to continually out-heal their dps while not bankrupting my mana, but in cata they made the drastic changes to mana to make healing more "strategic" (their fancy word for "nerf")...blizz made it quite clear they don't want healers being able to solo DPSers anymore, heh...
14th Apr 2012, 8:10 PM
A big YES to merging achievments.
It might even convince me to come back at some point.
14th Apr 2012, 8:30 PM
Damn I hate gankers.
Had a revenge moment that I will cherish forever. I was in STV with a friend who was much lower level and he/she got ganked by someone who was still much lower level than me. That player took off into the ocean to try to swim away from me. Evidently they didn't consider that as a druid (that alt) I could water-form to catch up to them... *SPLAT*!!! My friend was very happy. :)
Another great comic Clef. I really hope Blizzard accepts this one, but if they don't it just goes to show that they don't know talent when they see it. Goodness knows they're not *HIRING* much talent. ;)

The "I just don't care" expression on Sara's face in the two first panels is priceless.
As for account wide achievements I have been waiting for that for a long time...
And the best of luck on trying to reach the Blizzard comic page :)

I don't think anyone wears a smile while fishing, heh (the most monotonous task in WoW.
14th Apr 2012, 9:49 PM
I feel slightly bad after reading the comic, because I used to be one of those douchebags leaping in and annihilating everything with a red nameplate. Admittedly, being a hunter in full PvE attire, if a fight turned sour I was thoroughly boned. But knocking out 70% of a holydin's health before they bubbled in panic made it all worth it.
Equally fun was sniping hordelings in the keep that went afk too close to the towers or walls.
15th Apr 2012, 1:10 AM
I would love it if mounts and achievements were account wide. As said before, about the red proto, I want it on my lock, but soloing wrath heroics to get it is a pain, so if I could get it on my tank(bear tank ftw), it would help so much since I can solo wrath heroics on him. And mounts? that would be so wicked since my lock is my mount collector and I had the blue proto and horsemans's reigns drop on a different toon, *insert drooling* I would love it. But the biggest advantage to me would be finally being able to get my lowest geared 85s into DS without sounding stupid trying to say "well, my main is 1/8 heroic(8/8 reg), but I haven't done it on this toon" since the achievement would be account wide.
As far as your comic is concerned....well, I don't have fishing on my healer, but I am on a pvp server and I have healed those who were being ganked, most don't run away, but then again I never had an incident where I was fishing next to another person and that person was being ganked, so idk. I do love the expression on Sara's face tho, that is pretty much my face irl when I'm fishing or doing archeology. Also, to what you said in an earlier comment to someone else: fishing is not the most monotonous thing in the game, but close to it. Archeology and first aid are fairly monotonous as well.
15th Apr 2012, 1:21 AM
Archeology at least lets you get outdoors and see the scenery while you fly endless loops around the continent :)
Not just staring at a floating bobble, heh...
15th Apr 2012, 1:37 AM
Wow that is so true. And trust me Clef, it's not that your comics aren't good enough. Your comics are just too good for them! They can't handle your artistic ability. And great comic as always! Keep on drawing!

If account wide-achivments are a feature SING ME UP! (again)
15th Apr 2012, 12:01 PM
Fun story, i once long ago had a comic posted on the front page which was basically just screenshots with wow models and speechbubbles
15th Apr 2012, 4:46 PM
I thought you couldn't mount while in combat.
15th Apr 2012, 4:48 PM
If I remember right, it didn't take much to get out of combat in PvP once a player stopped attacking you.
15th Apr 2012, 7:14 PM
And its a nightelf. All he have to do is shadowmeld and he is free to run like a coward.
16th Apr 2012, 4:17 AM
... Is that undead wearing the alliance-only version of that tier set? That has to take some major skillz
16th Apr 2012, 4:34 AM
Probably. I just used the first rogue armor set I looked up. I don't know much about rogues other than I hate them.
16th Apr 2012, 6:00 AM
Hello Clef, first of all, ive been just only lurking and reading comics.. but now i finally decided to post something too.
Right, I wanna say i really love your story and characters (yeah i have my kinda RP story with my toon at Argent Tournament) Sarah & Kleeyo are really funny, awesome show of opposite sides sided up upon Tourney. And Tallia is just adorable :3
I wish you luck getting into Blizz´s comic mage hence many comics here aint much good by quality or by point.
Keep up the good work! ^^
16th Apr 2012, 6:49 AM
Thanks for the kind words, and your support!
16th Apr 2012, 9:29 AM
Speaking of things during fishing that make me smile, and account mount sharing, You know what would make me smile? sharing the turtle mount account wide.
16th Apr 2012, 4:12 PM
Account-wide mounts have already been confirmed. So you should be good on that.
16th Apr 2012, 6:19 PM
I'm a Blood Elf rogue when I play my main(yeah I guess that means you double hate me). But yeah, I know a lot about Rogues if you need.
when you faction change a character in the T9 Argent Tournament set, it changes to the faction's style. case in point, the sets are named after choice heroes. Alliance = Vancleef(Edwin Vancleef who was a mason in Stormwind but became a bandit because Stormwind nobles refused to pay and compensate them for the work they did). and Horde has Garona(named after Garona Halforcen who was a cunning and powerful Orc/Draenei hybrid assassin).
I have friends who faction changed so I know the differences rather intimately. :p my late brother was familiar with the Alliance versions of the sets too.
16th Apr 2012, 7:53 PM
Late brother? I'm very sorry to hear that...
18th Apr 2012, 2:35 AM
Hi Clef! How'd it go with the Blizzard Buzzards? Any good news?
18th Apr 2012, 3:43 AM
it if ever got accepted,, it probably still wouldn't show up for weeks.
18th Apr 2012, 4:37 AM
I think account-wide achievements really should've been the standard to begin with. I understand that there were probably technical reasons for not doing that (hence it being part of an expansion), but it never made any sense to me that changing characters erased what you'd done as a player, nd as a major altaholic I'd be really happy to finally have a shot at that stupid holiday drake.
As far as the comic goes... Blizz is weird about those, but I hope you get in.
18th Apr 2012, 4:47 AM
I apreciate the condolences, and to note, he died back in 2009. his main was a human warrior named Voltarspc. he was level 80, and it was shortly before the Lich King raid patch went live that we lost him.
one of the fondest memories I have in WoW with him was when we had our epic battle in Bloodmist Isle. we fought at the fork in the road, and really tore into each other. it was great.
I think he would have been flirting with your healadin quite a bit.
my brother was known as Volt in WoW. dark brown hair, foxtail hair style, the biggest possible beard usable.
he loved being Fury, but people loved him more when he was protection. oh could he tear it up as Fury, people would downright fear him, but he always had my respect.
in sanctuaries, we'd sometimes meet, and in neutral towns, we'd shoot the breeze. we even had a few screenshots together.
but they're gone now...
he's playing in Heaven's private servers with Jesus now though.
if he were still around and he was getting ganked, he'd go ape protecting the healer. I mean, he'd just destroy whoever it was messing with his healers.
he didnt like to PVP though, he preferred to deal with the common enemies of the Alliance and Horde, he'd go after Arthas, and get revenge on Hogger. he was the type who thought the bosses were the major step. he always wanted to raid.
I was always more the PVPer, I'd go around ganking gnomes, chop up the gnomes, and sit on their heads for the fact that I'd be humiliating them as they should be forced into humility.
he and I grew to hate gnomes, especially the ones who thought they were so tough as melee classes. we'd prove time and again how gnomes were not fit for melee, and we'd break the egos of so many gnomes.
such fond memories. he's in a better place though. he never liked Varian though, that racist pig... he even emoted that he'd punch Varian right in the face, breaking the smug king's nose and making him bleed.

Making achievements, titles, and mounts account-wide is, to me, the most illogical thing they could do. All it really does is cater to the lazy whiners who complain about having to do something again for something that is purely cosmetic.
But then, I'm just looking at it from a more logical point of view. All characters are different, no matter who created them. I don't think it's right that credit should be given to characters who haven't done it yet, nor should mounts be shared...like my DK having both mounts from the Zanda heroics, and my priest getting to use them even though she's never gotten the achievement (for a chance at the bear) or been able to roll on the panther.
I'd be more welcoming of account-wide achievements if they were a completely separate pool of achievements, not just saying because one character got this achievement, all 9 other characters on the server (or however many others you have across servers) get credit for it as well, even if they never did it.
