yeah same here about the demon part, maybe the next strip will have her debunking that assumption. also as far as death knights go, i figure it's because the ones that the old horde had aren't the same as the ones that arthas raised as the lich king, cus if memory serves, ner'zul was cast into the frozen thrown after failing to conquer azeroth during the second war so there was no lich king at the time these death knights existed.
Awesome as usual Clef! I like the B & W moment of the ogre spine snapping, and as the guest pointed out, it's a nice touch seeing Kleeyo keep to her ladylike fashion by closing her eyes as she ran between the ogre's legs (or past them).
When I first saw the DK I thought it was Gul'Dan himself and I was starting to wonder if the possibility of an alternate history emerging was going to be an outcome of the storyline. Was Gul'Dan leading troops at the battle of Southshore? I need a history refresher. It's hard to remember because you had to play the Alliance and Horde campaigns separately.
IIRC the Warlocks were dead after Doomhammer killed them all (sparing Gul'Dan's life) but it was Gul'Dan himself who created the first DK's, slaughtering his own necrolytes to create bodies for the old orc spirits.
not all of them... Doomhammer killed most of Shadow council (except for Gul´dan) but most warlocs in lower possition of foodchain survived that.
Most of them were however slaughtered when Gul´dan went for Tomb of Sargeras. First deathknights (Teron Gorefiend) remained more or less loayal to Doomhammer at that point though... and they were mostly warlocs...
When Thrall was lost searching for Nozdormu he possed as "warlock" to assasins who were sent to kill his parents. He even stood over himself, giving his own father assurance that his son will live on...
Zuluhed who was in charge of defending Wetlands and Thandol span was a warlock... and he could not use Dragon soul because he was a warlock, Nekros Skullcrusher who was more or less a shaman could.
but if those chains are supposed to capture a demon they target fel magic energies... or arcane energies... meaning that a shaman should easily ignore it.
IT was the other way around... Nekros was the shaman. Not really good one though and one of the few... Power of Dragon soul was dampened by spells Alexstrazsa, Nozdormu and Ysera casted on it after Hyjal ceremony. That included some reservations about who can use it...
Alright! Heavy storm of nostalgia incoming. Finally someone who knows how the real Death Knights looked like. Most of those overpowered nowadays Douchebag-Deathknights don't even know their heritage.
I love it - the story gets more and more interesting. (As always, say)
Deathknights of the Old Horde were orc warlocs "killed" by Doomhammer, Gul´dan had their souls bound to himself and then he imbued them into human bodies you mentioned.
non of the old DKs was "human" by terms of original body soul has occupied. Nerzhul did not like the concept of raising orcs as undead, however with Horde´s failure to protect Dreanor from Alliance expedition forces made him more or less forsake his race... Even when their defeat was more or less his fault.
Just watched vid of Khadgar sealing the Portal... "once for all" (well he miscalculated about that... but he did save Azeroth so the error had relatively minor consequence).
Vid wasn´t quite that sad now when I know he and expedition forces survived that. (and most of them actualy returned home eventualy... I wonder if Danath or some of his progeny will ever return to rebuild Stromgarde... he is the last Trollbane anyway)
"These soldiers of darkness were created by Gul'dan to replace the slaughtered Warlock clans. Assembled from the corpses of the Knights of Azeroth slain in the last battles of the First War."
Khadgar closing the portal? I assume that was the ending of the Human campaign of ToD? Well you know how it goes with warcraft lore...nothing is "once and for all", heh.
Well in Tides of Darkness Khadgar smashed portal on Azeroth by unleashing "fury of Earth and Storm"... the rift there remained though.
He persuaded Kirin Tor to build Nethergarde citadel to watch over the remained rift... got a title "Keeper of Eternal watch at Nethergarde"... when Ner´zhul reopened the portal it was mostly a precise assault to secure Medivh´s relics, and Eye of Dalaran.
With that he constructed portals which started to tear Dreanor apart... Khadgar and his forces, securing once again Eye of Dalaran, Skull of Gul´dan, and book of Medivh made their stand in Hellfire, Khadgar sealed the portal to prevent spreading of forces which tore Dreanor appart to Azeroth. It was after Ner´Zhul departed to one of the portals.
And then... Alliance expedition forces simply reduced scope of their goals to simply survive on their own. They did fairly well. And Khadgar managed to summon Naaru to Outland... as he says "he was searching for a miracle."
bt as for portal... it is not that difficult to create a portal between worlds in warcraft... but they are unstable, can transfer only limited amount of energies. (Sargeras would not withstand gooing through Illidan´s or Nerzhul´s portals). Dark portal is creation perhaps only matched by portal created by Night elves 10000 years ago...
(and that would end very badly if Korialstraz, Rhonin and Broxigar weren´t there to clean the mess with Malfurion)
she getting her horn back? that still makes me flinch. (i lost a tooth in a similar fashion so i kinda have a vague idea what losing a horn would feel like.)
I do wonder how the 'enslavement' will work as well...she's not a demon.

The Old Horde got theirs from the remains after razing Stormwind to the ground. Arthas got his after destroying Lordaeron.
This is in just regards to the RTS games. Obviously in WoW DKs come from everywhere.
